CellTrust SL2 – currently the only NIST CSF 2.0 compliant mobile communication capture solution in the new Microsoft Security Store

SL2 is also featured across all six NIST CSF 2.0 solution use cases: GOVERN, IDENTIFY, PROTECT, DETECT, RESPOND and RECOVER and 13 related applications

In September 2025, Microsoft launched its new Microsoft Security Store. Designed to simplify and strengthen how organizations approach cybersecurity, Microsoft is offering a curated selection of trusted solutions to help Security and IT teams streamline how they discover, acquire, and operationalize advanced security technologies. With features like industry framework alignment, simplified billing, and guided deployment, the new Microsoft Security Store helps security teams reduce complexity, accelerate adoption, and maximize the value of their security investment.

Microsoft made navigating the new Microsoft Security Store transparent by grouping solutions and agents into three categories: Security Standards, Security Agents and Security Integrations.

Although, CellTrust SL2 can also be found within the Security Integrations category — this blog post is focussed on navigating and understanding the Security Standards category which is further divided into six use cases: Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover subdivided into 22 applications.

Each solution included in this section is required to support one or more of the six use cases, adhere to the NIST CSF 2.0 framework, and comply with its rigorous standards.

CellTrust SL2 is listed for all 6 use cases and 13 related applications
With security as the foundation of our Secure and Compliant Mobile solutions, it’s no surprise CellTrust SL2 is indicated for all six use cases and at least one or more applications within each use case.

CellTrust Information, Privacy, & Security (IPS) policies are aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0. CellTrust carefully maps each Enterprise Cybersecurity Policy (ECSP) to NIST CSF 2.0, performs a compliance gap analysis and implements NIST CSF controls for compliance. CellTrust’s cybersecurity team includes industry experts and patent holders, ensuring advanced expertise in policy design and implementation.

  1. Policy Alignment and Mapping
  • CellTrust’s IPS and ECSP policies are directly mapped to the NIST CSF 2.0 framework. This mapping ensures that every policy and control within the organization is referenced against the gold standard for cybersecurity, providing a clear structure for compliance and risk management
  • Detailed mapping tables illustrate how CellTrust’s policies correspond to NIST SP 800-53 controls, ISO 27000 families, HIPAA, HiTECH, and PCI-DSS requirements. This includes technical controls (e.g., identification/authentication, access control, network security, log management) and management controls (e.g., risk assessment, audit, accountability)

  1. Compliance Gap Analysis
  • CellTrust performs regular compliance gap analyses to identify areas where existing policies or controls may not fully meet NIST CSF 2.0 requirements. These analyses drive updates and improvements to ensure ongoing alignment and address any deficiencies

  1. Implementation of NIST CSF Controls
  • The organization implements NIST CSF controls across all relevant domains, including technical, operational, and management areas. This includes procedures for user identification, privilege management, password management, access controls, network security, and risk assessment
  • CellTrust’s Secure and Compliant Mobile solution, SL2, is engineered to align with NIST CSF core functions and application areas that support desired business outcomes

  1. Continuous Improvement and Review
  • Policies are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect changes in technology, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Revision histories show ongoing updates to align with platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, and to maintain compliance with NIST CSF 2.0

“CellTrust is proud to have been selected as a partner in the Microsoft Security Store partner ecosystem,” said Sean Moshir, Chairman and CEO, CellTrust. “Engineered on Microsoft Azure, CellTrust’s secure and compliant products utilize Microsoft technologies to deliver robust security, compliance, and scalability while empowering organizations with the highest standards in mobile communication management.”

What is the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0?
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a US federal agency under the Department of Commerce that develops and promotes measurement standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and technology best practices — including the well-known NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).

NIST CSF 2.0 provides guidance to industry, government agencies and other organizations to manage cybersecurity risks. It offers a taxonomy of high-level cybersecurity outcomes that can be used by any organization — regardless of its size, sector or maturity — to better understand, assess, prioritize, and communicate its cybersecurity efforts.

Highly respected and widely regarded as the gold standard for cybersecurity risk management around the world, the NIST CSF:

  • NIST has a long history of setting rigorous consensus-based standards developed through collaboration with industry, government and academia
  • While created for US critical infrastructure, it is now used by organizations worldwide across industries including finance, healthcare, energy and manufacturing
  • CSF 2.0 isn’t prescriptive; it adapts to organizations of all sizes and maturing levels, integrating with other frameworks like ISO 27001, CIS Controls and SOC 2
  • Version 2.0, released in 2024, expands beyond critical infrastructure to all organizations and adds stronger guidance on governance, supply chain security and continuous improvement
  • Many compliance programs and government guidelines reference or align with the NIST CSF, giving it significant credibility and recognition by regulators and auditors
